I’m having so much fun participating in Down Grapevine Lane’s Quilt Petite Sew Along! If you missed my post for round 1, here’s what I made.
For round 2, I wanted to make something useful but pretty. I decided to start with some pretty mug rugs and later decided to make a table topper to match!
The table topper is made with applique petals. I have never done applique before so it was a great learning experience!
I’ve always wanted to add a little bit of contrasting fabric to a binding and, since this was such a small project, I figured this would be a great place to try that out. So, if you look closely, you might be able to see the little pink swatch of fabric I added to the grey binding.
The fabrics I used for both the table topper and the mug rug are as follows:
- Yarn-Dyed Essex Linen in charcoal by Robert Kaufman
- Sugar Pie by Lella Boutique for Moda
- Little Bride by Daily Like Canada
- A Warm Heart by Daily Like Canada
- Sprinkle in Sawdust by Cotton and Steel
These darling little labels are also from Daily Like Canada. Aren’t they just the sweetest things?!
