Gifts! We all love to give and receive special gifts.
I find myself creating excuses to give gifts.
Like…
Oh look! It’s Grandparents Day, May Day, Sweetest Day, or Someone is Having a Bad Day day…
Or Monday.
Don’t you think we all need to get gifts on Monday? Monday is the granddaddy of all bad days. For example, this past Monday our fridge just straight up broke. An awesome gift, like a fridge, would have made the day pass by much more smoothly. Heehee!
Giving gifts is especially fun when it’s not any “day” at all.
I love to lavish gifts on my family and friends. It’s my way of telling them how special they are to me. How loved, treasured, and priceless they are. I can more easily share my thoughts and feelings for others through giving gifts than I can through language.
Gifts are definitely my love language to others.
The only time I may not completely enjoy gift giving is when it’s forced.
Is anything good when it’s forced? Things like paying taxes or government healthcare? I think not. (Aren’t I so clever pulling politics into this… Heehee!)
Seriously, though, once someone has said, “You will do this”, I’ve already determined ten ways in which I will. not. do. it.
Giving gifts just has to come from the heart. That’s why baby showers, bridal showers, and honestly, Christmas itself, aren’t my favorites.

Anyway, someone at my husband’s work is having a baby boy.
Each and every baby is special and should be celebrated! And what a great excuse to not only give a gift but also hang around the infant section of the department store for hours oooing and aaahing over terribly tiny soft pieces of clothing!
So I got busy.
Baby Gift Basket
Instead of wrapping everything in the typical gift bag, I found this adorable little storage caddy by 3 Sprouts.
The caddy is made of canvas with felt applique on the front.
They have the cutest little creatures to choose from.
I chose the beaver, obviously, but Mr. Walrus and Sir Bee were making my decision very difficult! The inside of the canvas is vinyl, making it wipeable, too.
The best thing about this storage caddy is that, unlike a paper gift bag, it can be used to store diapers, lotions, soaps, or whatever. It’s decorative and purposeful!
As much fun as it is to pick out all these adorable baby items, I think it’s important to not leave out Mommy and Daddy. Especially Mommy. She is most certainly the one doing all the work here.
For Mommy I chose some of my favorite chocolate treats and a delicious hand lotion by Bert’s Bees called Red Ruby Groovy. Trust me, it smells so yummy, I should’ve picked up another one for me!
Daddy is a huge football fan and his favorite team is the Dolphins. What better way to disguise another baby gift as a Daddy gift than by getting an infant’s NFL Dolphins t-shirt! I just killed two birds with one stone. Woohoo!
So often when there’s a new baby in the house the older sibling, or siblings, start feeling a bit left out.
I should know, right?!
Being the oldest in my family, whenever a baby brother came along everyone all but forgot the golden curly headed little girl stomping around the house, her nose held high, and her arms crossed.
When it was my turn to hold the moody little interruption to my perfect life, I thought, “Oh, you think you are so precious don’t you… Well, I’ll show you who’s boss around here.” – pinch.
There really is a series of photos of me holding my baby brother that end with him crying and me smiling.
And that is why you do not want to forget the older sibling.
Buy her something special and sweet. Something that will keep her little fingers happily away from chubby baby brother’s thighs.
I packed everything neatly into the little canvas tote bag and finished it off with a pretty blue bow.
I wrapped the Lego kit for the older sister separately, so she can have something to open all by herself.
Have fun creating an extravagant baby gift that touches the whole family!
