Koru Naturals – A Review

February 27, 2015 By: leah

Winter comes every year. I can’t avoid it.

But that extremely dry, chapped, and sometimes even cracked winter skin that comes along with the cold weather, well, it actually is avoidable with the help of Koru Naturals.

I got the chance to review two products from Koru Naturals this month. I was thrilled to receive their Emu Oil as well as their Koolpurrie Restoring Balm.

With all my dry skin issues, I was so ready to test out these products.

Koru Naturals

Koru Naturals offers all natural quality skincare products from New Zealand.

Some of the products they carry include lanolin creams, lip balms, shampoos and conditioners, clay facial masks, bath salts, rosehip oils, and my favorite – manuka honey.

I am a big fan of natural products and have been a customer of Koru Naturals in the past. They carry some of the highest quality products you can find anywhere, including some difficult to find UMF 20+ manuka honey.

Emu Oil

ABOUT

I received a 2oz. bottle of unscented pure emu oil from Koru Naturals.

Emu oil is an all natural oil full of vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids. It has been used for centuries as an effective skin moisturizer because it is so easily absorbed and doesn’t clog pores. I remember my grandma using emu oil for her skin. It’s supposed to be great for wrinkles and as an anti-aging product.

Because Koru Naturals’ emu oil is milky white in appearance, you can rest assured that it still contains all the necessary health benefits, unlike the clarified kind made by other manufacturers. Koru Naturals even tests each batch to make sure it has all the essential ingredients.

This creamy emu oil can be used on the skin, especially the face, or even on the hair as a leave-in conditioner.

USAGE

Although my grandma used emu oil for her skin, I found this oil to be excellent for hair. My daughter has darling little African American curls and yet her hair is so fragile. It is very dry and it breaks easily.

Each morning I pour a small amount of emu oil into my fingers and run it through her hair. I don’t need a lot since a little goes a long way. If my daughter’s hair is in braids or twists, I run some oil down each braid and massage it in.

The results? Her hair is so much softer, shinier, and healthier. This oil was made for her hair, enhancing her natural beauty.

I tried it for my own hair as well, but I really didn’t see the same results. The oil just sort of sat on top of my hair and didn’t seem to absorb. My hair is thin and straight, so the emu oil may not be as well suited to the texture and fineness of my hair type.

Koolpurrie Restoring Balm

ABOUT

I received a 1.4oz tub of Koolpurrie Restoring Balm. This balm has a smooth sticky feel and is slightly yellowish in appearance.

The Koolpurrie Restoring Balm contains only two ingredients: Lanolin Anhydrous USP and Emu Oil Grade A. It contains no dyes, perfumes, or additives.

This product is great for dry or damaged skin, especially those trouble areas like elbows and heels.

With a clean finger, rub a thin layer over the affected skin and allow the product to soothe and restore. It’s great for sensitive skin, too.

USAGE

Everyone in my family was able to review this Koolpurrie Restoring Balm. I guess we all suffer from dry skin! But we all have seen results with this product.

For myself, I love to use this balm on my heels. I have so much trouble with rough, callused, and even cracked heels. I began rubbing a thin layer of balm over my heels every night and then put socks on and went to bed. I used a bean sized amount on my finger and rubbed it into my heel until it was mostly absorbed. This balm has really helped soften my heels and keeps me from getting those painful cracks in my feet.

For my son, his hands seem to be chapped all the time. He honestly does not notice his dry skin and it doesn’t bother him, but it does bother me! When he gets chapped hands, I rub this balm over his hands before bed and have him wear socks on his hands while he sleeps. In the morning there is a huge difference. The redness fades dramatically and his hands are so much softer.

My husband often gets cracks in his hands. One evening when he was showing me his hand, I asked him to try this Koolpurrie Restoring Balm. He put a thin layer over the crack in his hand and placed a Band-Aid over the top. The crack had much improved and after a few more applications it was completely gone.

All in all, I have been very impressed with Koru Naturals products. I would definitely recommend them for their natural qualities and healing benefits. I know I’ll be back for more of their products myself.

Leah, I’d love to feature this post for my participation in Marcy Crabtree’s “5 on the 5th” linky party. I saw in your sidebar that photos could be used with full credit given to you. This would go up on my blog plus linked in Marcy’s.

    Does that work for you?
