I was so honored this month to be able to try out a new pattern by the Fat Quarter Shop for their Shortcut Quilt Series!
This new pattern is called the Jelly Roll Ripples quilt.
I loved putting this quilt together because it was a super easy quick sew and it looks fantastic! I love using precuts to piece together a quilt top. It makes everything come together so quickly!
The Jelly Roll Ripples quilt makes a very good sized lap quilt at 62 1/2 x 82 1/2 inches.
For the Jelly Roll Ripples quilt you’ll need:
- 1 Jelly Roll in the fabric of your choice
- 1 Junior Jelly Roll in your background fabric
- 1 5/8 yards border fabric
- 3/4 yard binding
- 5 1/4 yards backing
Fat Quarter Shop has a free video tutorial for this quilt up on their You Tube channel!
I chose the fun boyish Big Sky fabrics by Annie Brady for Moda fabrics for my quilt top. I also used a Junior Jelly Roll in white for my background fabric.
You can also use the Jelly Roll Ripples Quilt kit from the Fat Quarter Shop that includes the fabric for the quilt top and the binding.
I absolutely loved working with these fabrics. The colors look great together and they are perfectly boyish, just right for my son!
The pattern is so clear and easy to follow. There are lots of illustrations for each step and great instructions. What I really loved about using this pattern was that there are ironing instructions!! What?! Yes!! Little arrows show which direction to iron your seams. Awesome! I have never seen this in a pattern before! With the ironing instructions included, nesting all the little seams together was a dream. Best. Thing. Ever. Now I’m going to want all my patterns to have ironing guides!
I used a super soft minky for the backing in a beige color that matched my fabrics perfectly. I was so pleased with it! I just stitched in the ditch to quilt it all together and it was done in no time at all!
I loved making my Jelly Roll Ripples Quilt! If you are looking for a pattern that finishes fast and beautifully, this one is for you!
