This year my daughter wanted to celebrate her birthday with a tea party! So we invited Grandma over to our house and had a lovely afternoon tea, just us girls. Plus my son…who acted as our super sweet server.
I realized that I had given away some of my really cute tea things, so that was disappointing, but we set out to make it all as pretty as we could anyway. My mom brought over a white lace tablecloth and I set the table with some pretty tea cups, candles, and a flower.
Grain-Free Tea Party
I didn’t make a lot of foods for our little tea, but what I did make turned out surprisingly well!
These are the dainty little foods we made for my daughter’s tea. These finger foods are all grain-free and sugar-free. And they’re super yummy, too.
Lemon-Blueberry Scones – nut-free, grain-free, dairy-free
These scones look dry and crumbly but they were actually really good! The fresh squeezed lemon juice really made the flavor pop. They were so yummy, I think everyone had seconds.
Grape Gelatin Hearts
These fruit juice gelatin jiggles are my kids’ favorite snack. I think this recipe is on the back of the gelatin container, but here it is just in case it’s not.
Grape Gelatin Hearts
8 cups juice – separated
4 TBS beef gelatin
In a small saucepan, heat 4 cups of juice on the stove. While the juice in heating, in a large bowl, sprinkle 4TBS of gelatin over the other 4 cups of juice. When small bubbles form, turn off the heat and pour the hot juice over the cold juice. Mix thoroughly and pour into a 9×13 inch pan. Chill until firm.
Optional: You can cut out fun shapes or add fruit.
Mini Quiche Bites
For these mini quiche bites, I just took a basic healthy quiche recipe and added in some cooked bacon and steamed broccoli. Instead of pouring the mixture into a pie pan, I spooned the batter into a well greased mini muffin pan. They turned out beautifully!
Cucumber Sandwiches – grain-free
These are not your typical cucumber sandwiches! I used cucumbers in place of bread and filled them with this delicious cream cheese filling. Honestly, I loved these so much I could’ve eaten the entire plateful, but that would have been neither dainty nor lady-like.
Deviled Eggs
Deviled Eggs make for a super healthy and easy finger food. Since we have our own hens and our eggs are fresh, the shells can be difficult to peel. I tried steaming the eggs this time instead of boiling them and it really did work! I don’t think I’ll never go back to boiling eggs again.
After our tea, my daughter opened up her gifts from Grandma. My mom sewed this dress my daughter is wearing! She also got a My Little Pony and some books, her favorite!
We definitely need to make time to have more little afternoon tea parties. Our time together was delightful and we made special memories. Happy Birthday, Baby Girl!

I love this!! The girls would love it too, so I will try this for their b-day this year. What a lovely post & Happy Birthday to your sweetie!!
