Friday Favorites

June 6, 2014 By: leah

When I find something I really like, I get very exited!

After all, it’s not everyday you find socks that don’t pill, hoses that don’t kink, eye shadows that don’t crease, or fitness programs that don’t make you move a muscle. When I find a good thing, I spread the word!

Since it’s Friday, I thought I’d start a new “Friday Favorites” series and share some of the things that I am currently enjoying.

1. For Skin that Doesn’t Break Out

This stuff is amazing! I keep several tubes of Nelson’s Pure and Clear Gel on hand. I never want to run out.

Before bed, I smooth on a light layer of this gel all over my face to keep pesky pimples away. It works wonders. For me, milk, cheese, yogurt… all forms of dairy cause me to break out. Although I’ve cut out a lot of dairy, cheese is something I simply can not and will not go without. Since I started using this gel,  break outs have been almost non-existent, even with my cheese eating habit. And the best thing is that the ingredients are all natural.

2.For Hair that Doesn’t Frizz

Due to our extremely hard water, my hair has become awfully dry and frizzy. But I’ve found some great products to combat all of that!

I’ve been using TRESemme Thermal Creations, WEN Cleansing Conditioner, and DermOrganic intensive hair repair MASQUE.

The TRESemme heat protectant has been great for minimizing heat damage to my hair. I spray a liberal amount on before I blow dry, curl, or straighten my hair. It’s been making a huge difference!

I guess I jumped on the WEN bandwagon because I’m a huge fan of the stuff now! Besides the fact that this cleansing conditioner makes my hair feel brand new again, I get the mint fragrance and it’s so refreshing! It’s a little different because it doesn’t get foamy and sudsy in my hair like regular shampoo. However, the reason I get a nice lather with regular shampoo is because it contains certain ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate. Wen doesn’t use those ingredients because it dries hair out and makes it brittle. I use a regular shampoo about once a week to get a deep down clean but the rest of the week I use WEN and love it!

After every shampoo, I use the DermOrganic hair mask. It’s like a thick luxurious conditioner. It makes my hair feel like butter. For real.  This is my new “conditioner”!

3. For Eyes that Don’t Disappear

Anytime I’m not wearing eye make-up people look at me and ask, “Are you feeling okay?”, “Are you sad?”, “Are you dying!?” This is exactly why I don’t leave the house without mascara!

I’ve tried a million different mascaras over my lifetime and this Telescopic one by Loreal is by far my favorite. It’s like magic. It turns my thin, sparse, blonde eyelashes into the real deal. It has a really nice comb on the wand and it goes on better and looks far more natural than any other mascara I’ve tried so far.

4. For Hair that Doesn’t Fly Away

We get a lot of wind where we are, with gusts up to 60 mph. That’s a lot of wind. When you’re leaving the house for church, or whatever, and you’ve just done your hair, wind is not your friend. I have found a weapon to use against the wind, though, and it’s my Kenra Volume Spray 25. If you’re looking for a hairspray that will last all day Kenra is it. It’s like superglue spray for your hair without it looking all glued down. Spray this on and the wind won’t have a prayer.

5. For a Neck that Doesn’t Kink

Pillows… Usually a new pillow is all wonderful until I’ve slept on it for a few days and it turns into a flat piece of nothingness. Or I end up with a pillow like the ones they have at ALL the hotels. The ones that are so high and firm, you can’t even get your head up on it. And if you do, you get a neck ache for the rest of the week.

And I’m done with all these pillows that say they are made just for back sleepers, or just for tummy sleepers, or just for side sleepers. Hello people. I sleep all three ways every night. Can you puh-lease make a pillow for those of us who can’t make up their mind which way to sleep?

Guess what. They heard me.

Introducing…the Serta Slumber Gel.

I can’t say I’ve given this a very good workout yet. I’ve only had it for about two weeks. But in those two weeks, it has not become a flat little pancake at all. It’s still just as light and fluffy as the day I bought it. It’s comfortable to sleep on if I’m on my back or on my side. I haven’t decided if it’s completely comfortable for stomach sleeping yet but it’s not bad. I’m really impressed with this pillow and am loving it so far.

I picked mine up at Macy’s for $15. Trying to find a link, I googled this particular pillow and I haven’t found an exact match yet. This may be it but the packaging is a little different so I’m not sure. Either way, keep your eyes out and see if you can pick up one of these pillows!

What about you? What great finds have you discovered?
