7 Things That are Saving My Life Right Now

February 3, 2016 By: leah

Today was a long day.

Truth be told…this whole winter is really dragging on.

And it’s not just me. My kids are starting to go a little stir crazy, too.

Don’t ask me how I know. I just do. It’s subtle, you know. A mom thing. It’s not like my kids climb the curtains or anything. When bored, you wouldn’t find my kids making snips in an umbrella with a pair of blunt kid scissors. They would never stab dinner forks into their mommy’s new dining room table. Boogers? Those don’t interest them at all. Booger art? Never. Or do they…

I think I’m learning to take it one day at a time. You know, I may be on my knees at 9am crying out for the Lord’s mercy but at least I’m not thinking about what kinds of trials my kids will be putting me through in another five years. No, I don’t go there. Or do I….

Sometimes you just gotta survive one day at a time. Another blogger shared seven things that are saving her life right now and I decided I had to share mine, too.

So, here are the seven little things keep me going. It’s the little things that keep me sane.

7 Things That are Saving My Life Right Now

1. Coffee

I don’t like it black. Oh, no. But when it’s frothy and full of creamy milk, maple syrup, molasses, and cinnamon, I’m in heaven. And if it’s a particularly stressful day, I might make two cups.

2. The Nesting Place

I love this book! It’s my warm happy book. I’ve been reading along and implementing tips and ideas as I go. The author has lots of creative ideas to make your home more cozy and enjoyable. The pillow in this photo was inspired by this book.

3. Mrs. Meyers Honeysuckle Dishsoap

I hate cleaning the kitchen. And, even worse, I hate washing dishes by hand. Yes, I absolutely loathe, despise, and abominate it. But adding a votive candle by the sink has brightened my mood. It’s almost enjoyable. Almost. And paired with Mrs. Meyers Honeysuckle soap…well, it’s very nice. The soap has a soothing aroma and with the candle, I can imagine I’m at a spa. Almost.

4. Knitting

Knitting is relaxing to me. I love the feel of the yarn and I enjoy being creative, even if it’s just a dishcloth. Knitting makes me happy.

5. Space Heater

My mom gave me this idea. Even though I wear sweaters and slippers around the house, I’m always cold. But not with my little space heater. I’ve got it plugged in under my desk, at my feet, and it’s pure bliss.

6. White Collar

As soon as the kids are in bed, it’s popcorn and movie time for Hubby and me. It’s our way to de-stress and we both look forward to it like giddy little kids. Lately, we’ve been watching the White Collar series, all about FBI agents solving high end crimes, like art forgeries. And the whole series is on Clearplay, too!

7. Music

Music has always been my love. I used to play the piano when I was stressed and I still do, but I do love my Spotify account now. I sit at the computer and browse Pinterest while my favorite tunes are playing. It’s the best.

So, those are the things that are saving my life right now. What are yours?

I love all seven of your happy things!
Winter feels like it is dragging on here too! I think it’d be fine if it stayed lighter outside longer. Getting dark about 5:30 is just not right!!!
I see you have an Erin Condren! My mom got me one last year and I ordered me one for Christmas. I absolutely love it!!!!
I need to add honeysuckle to my list. I have several bottles of the lemon and just purchased the basil. ahhhhh it smells heavenly!
