Can you believe we’re at the end on July already? Wow. Every year summer seems to fly by faster and faster.
For the 4th of July we had a little BBQ in our backyard, which, by the way, is coming along nicely! We’ve been landscaping our backyard and putting in grass, plants, and a larger patio. Hopefully I’ll be able to reveal the finished project soon! My brother came out to visit and we had burgers, potato salad, a summer corn salad, Paleo strawberry jello, chips, fries, and fruit salad for dinner. And sparklers and pop-its for the kids in the evening.
My daughter finished up her summer dance class this month. She learned so much. She took tap, ballet, and gymnastics. She can skip, somersault, hop, plié, “shuffle-step” and lots more. And she and her classmates are as cute as buttons doing it all.
Believe it or not, we own seven laying hens and yet we had to buy eggs from the grocery store this month. For over a week it appeared that all our hens had stopped laying, until my son found their “nest”. Instead of using their nice cozy nesting boxes, the hens decided to lay their eggs out in the field, nestled under some great big bushy weed. We’ve since pulled up this weed in hopes that they’d go back to using their nesting boxes. Nope. Now we go on eggs hunts everyday, not just on Easter.
It was a quick last minute thing, but we got to see Jamie Grace in concert! I’m so glad we went. My daughter loves her! She sings her songs all the time. And Jamie Grace is such a good role model for girls. I love that she has such a strong stand for purity and encourages other girls to do the same.
This is my daughter’s favorite Jamie Grace song.
And here’s a sneak peek at how our yard is coming along. Hopefully, more to come on that!
So, how have you been spending your summer?
