Hubby has been gone this week on business, so the kids and I have been busy holding down the fort. This week, while Hubby stays in a five star hotel and eats out everyday, I wash dishes, chow down microwave hotdogs, and watch Jeopardy. Oh, and I’ll have you know I got the final Jeopardy question right! And in art history, too. Who says TV isn’t good for you?
Well, it’s the end of the day. The kids are in bed. The dog has stopped whining. Oh, and that housefly that just friended me, because I was sitting next to the only light in the house, is now dead. So, now my unrelated list of random thoughts can be freed, at last. I mean, I have to share them with somebody, right?
By the way, Hubby may not have it so great… He had to eat oysters at dinner with the guys tonight. I don’t envy him that. Shudder.
I called Amazon today. I have an Amazon Prime account which means I’m supposed to get free, two-day shipping. Well, I think I recently got degraded to Amazon Slime. Who else has noticed Amazon has started using USPS for deliveries? Is it not the most annoying thing ever?
Last week, since we couldn’t find it in the stores, I ordered cassava flour to try out this new grain-free, nut-free bread recipe. My flour was supposed to arrive this past Monday by…USPS. I groaned inside, knowing what that meant, but still held on to hope. It is now Friday and my flour is I-don’t-know-where.
USPS is delivering, or not delivering, almost every order I place at Amazon these days. So far, I’ve gotten my USPS packages delivered late, not at all, or to a neighbor’s address. If, on rare occasion, a package is delivered both correctly and on time, I have to stand in line at the post office to pick it up anyway, because it won’t fit in my three inch tall mail slot.
Long gone are the days when FedEx would show up at 10:30 in the morning and leave my Amazon package on my front doorstep. Good things don’t last forever.
Which leads me to my next thought…
Does anyone really want the government doing anything for them? I mean, if they are so incompetent and so inept that they cannot get a solitary package to the correct address on time, should we trust them with, I donno, something as important as our HEALTH? No. No, we should not. And yet, the sheeple of America have already said, “Yes! Big Brother, I want you to take care of me and make all my medical decisions for me. And I want it all for free! Free abortions and free contraception. Free! Free! Free!” And so Obamacare became reality.
We do not have Obamacare as our insurance plan, but it doesn’t matter. We’re still affected. Obamacare, like all big government plans, has managed to reach its long arm into every American’s life and turn it upside down.
My doctor was already out-of-network. I had to pay cold hard cash for a visit. But after the “Affordable Care Act” was implemented, my doctor started losing money and fast. This summer he was forced to close his practice. It makes me so sad because this man has been my doctor since my son was born. He helped restore my health after conventional doctors told me, “Come back in a year or two,” after I worsened so they could diagnose me. I am so glad I’ve been able to see him all these years, but the fact that he still wants to practice and can’t…that is wrong. Whatever happened to the “if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor” promise?
In addition to losing my doctor, our health insurance has gone way up. And each year it keeps rising. Last year, after the so-called Affordable Healthcare Act went into effect, our out-of-pocket premiums jumped up by $1200 a year. In 2016 they’ll increase another $720. We’ll be paying almost $2000 more than we were before Obama made everything “affordable”. What happened to the promise of $2500 lower premiums for typical middle class families?
Which leads me to thinking about the 2016 election. Freedom loving Americans, especially Christians, need to know what is going on with this upcoming election. It’s extremely important. We cannot survive another democratic win. In fact, we can’t survive another wishy-washy, stagnant, do nothing, lobbyist-bought republican win either. It’s time to wake up, get involved, get your friends, family, church, and neighbors involved, and get out and VOTE. I can’t tell you how many people I know who don’t have any idea who’s running for office. What’s worse, they don’t even care.
Honestly, the future of America should be at the very top of our list of priorities. It’s that worthy of our attention. Our beautiful children have to live in the country that we leave behind. I guarantee you, I do not want to leave my babies to fend for themselves in a socialist land full of immorality. If I wanted that for my kids, I could move to any other country on the face of the earth.
“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” -Edmund Burke
To all Americans who want to preserve freedom, don’t “do nothing” this coming election year.
Instead, do this:
- Get truthful news by listening to conservative talk radio. I like Mark Levin.
- Watch the presidential debates.
- Research and get to know each of the candidates.
- Determine which candidates bleed red, white, and blue.
- Who will defend the constitution?
- Who will defend the 2nd amendment?
- Who will defend religious freedom?
- Who will defend medical freedom?
- Who will defund Planned Parenthood?
- Who will protect the sanctity of marriage?
- Who will stand up for parental rights?
- Who will protect our borders and our people from violent illegal criminals?
- Who will have the guts to stomp out evil around the world?
- Who will not succumb to political correctness?
- Volunteer at your chosen candidate’s campaign headquarters.
- Donate to your candidate’s campaign.
If not for yourself, do it for your children and your grandchildren. Future generations are counting on you.
For me, my research has led to Senator Ted Cruz. He’s a strong Christian with a heart for America. The Democrats and Republicans in Washington D.C. all hate him. In my opinion, when a candidate doesn’t care what other politicians think of him, it’s a good sign that he’ll do what’s best for America.
Listen to his speech and let me know what you think! Who are you supporting for president?
