Hello, Friends! My favorite online fabric store, the Fat Quarter Shop, has just kicked off their annual quilt along for 2017.
It looked really fun so I decided to join and sew along!
For the quilt along, each month the Fat Quarter Shop releases a new block pattern and you make six blocks. The block for January is called the Souvenir of Friendship. Isn’t it cute!?
I chose Tilda fabrics for my patchwork pieces. The solid pink and all the pretty florals are from the Memory Lane collection.
The background fabric I used is a cotton/linen blend from Robert Kaufman’s Essex Linen Collection in natural. I have always wanted to make a quilt using this pretty linen/cotton blend fabric, so I’m very excited to see how this one turns out!
I was so inspired today after seeing a quilt that had a piece of crocheted lace sewn into the quilt binding. How clever! So, all along the edge of the quilt peeked out a little lace. I looooved it! Such a delicate and feminine touch to add.
I’m definitely going to add lace to this quilt, if I can manage it. And I already plan to quilt it with a pale pink thread. I can’t wait!
Do you want to sew along, too? All you have to do is download the pattern! There’s a tutorial video on the Fat Quarter Shop’s you tube channel, too. There’s even a Patchwork Quilt Along facebook group you can join and see what everyone else is creating!
If you choose to sew along, let me know! I’d love to see your blocks!
