English Paper Piecing…I was so intimidated by it, but I finally learned how! I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it, but I loved it. And now I think I’m addicted.
Who knew cutting out little hexies and sewing them together could be SEW fun! I love it! I can’t wait to make lots more of these adorable little hexie projects.
This little hexie project is called the Hexie Sewing Kit by A Spoonful of Sugar. You can buy the pattern as a PDF download from Etsy.
I made my little kit with Tilda fabrics from their Sweetheart collection as well as some cotton/linen blend fabric. The binding is from Amy Sinibaldi’s Les Petites collection.
I love this kit so much! I made this for my swap partner for the Tiny Florals Anonymous Swap happening on Instagram. It matches the “Born to Knit” pouch that I made for her.
I apparently get overly excited about cute little mini sewing kits with lace and tiny buttons because this has been my most favorite project since probably forever. I cannot get enough of it! I so enjoyed embellishing the inside of the kit with coordinating fabrics, ribbon, lace, and buttons. I took forever making final decisions on what to use, but I love how it came out. Simple, light, and feminine.
Inside the kit is a little pocket to store scissors, thread, a needle minder, or thimble. There’s a little bit of felt to keep your needles or pins safe, too. I chose to close it with cotton ribbon rather than a snap. So much more elegant, right?
I think this Hexie Sewing Kit makes a perfect gift. I really hope my swap partner likes it. I think I’ll need to make one for myself one of these days, too. I love it that much!
